Park alongside the river at Sandholme and enjoy the perfect place for a picnic. With over ¼ mile of river frontage there is ample space to play. The nature trails in Strid Wood also start from this point.

River bathing is not recommended downstream of the Stepping Stones. Be aware of rapid changes in water level, deep pools, undercurrents and submerged rocks.

On the opposite side of the River Wharfe below the Priory Ruins the beach area provides the perfect place for children to build sandcastles and fish for tiddlers. To access this area park in Bolton Abbey car park.
